Lwengo District Core Programs

Lwengo Public –Private –Civil Society Partnership Program.

The PPCP is the first Pillar of the New Lwengo District Investment Plan and was created to manage the strategic partnerships that will enhance the potential of Lwengo and partners to conduct agricultural research, capacity building efforts of the communities, enhancing investments and trade flows in the district. The program also supports the Agricultural Research Systems (ARS), Energy and Infrastructure systems aimed at acquiring clean energy, water, agribusiness value addition to ensure food security, support education and health services, build modernized roads, railways and air transport infrastructure to match with the livelihoods of the people in a middle class status by 2025.  

This program will build on the existing Government of Uganda's policy of Public –Private Partnership framework of Build, Operate, Own and Transfer (BOOT), Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) to achieve various projects. The program is working towards establishing and strengthening the Lwengo Investment and Trade Agency (LITA). LITA will be composed of team technical experts and business acumen that will collaborate with the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), Exports Promotion Board, Uganda Roads Authority and other statutory agency to develop a modern state of art Infrastructure and physical planning that will see Lwengo transform into a modern city and a tourism attraction hub within 30 years.
